Miss. Subways was a title given to individual women of New York between the years of 1941 - 1976 who's pictures would be running alongside the subways during that time. Women were chosen by telephone based voting and to be qualified the women had to use the subway themself, and be a resident of New York.
How awesome is this? It's just interesting to see what was considered a beautiful women, and how different it is from the present. Here are a few of the women who were featured.
One of my favorite things is when the blogs I check out have a "Music" feature. Like a songs of the week or that sort of thing. So I came across Beirut's "Nantes" through Jessica's website where she has a Music Monday feature. I went all the way back to the beginning and am making my way to the present. Anyways, I found that Mike Posner did his little remake of this song, and thought, although the original is 100 times better, it was still neat so would share it. Enjoy both!
Beirut - Nantest
Mike Posner - Long Time
let's try to entertain this insomnia with a little blogging.
I like a woman with a future and a past
I know things get hard girl but you got it girl
You got it there you go
Can't you tell by how they looking at you everywhere you go
Wondering whats on your mind, it must be hard to be that fine
I'm so, I'm so, I'm so, I'm so, I'm so proud of you
I'm so, I'm so, I'm so, I'm so, I'm so proud of you
I'm so, I'm so, I'm so, I'm so, I'm so proud of you
Everything's adding
up, you've been through hell and back
Thats why you're bad as fuck and you
i don't need drake's approval :) but the first line is my favorite in this song, and i love the positive overall message. every woman has her own story, her own baggage, no matter if it seems like a big deal to you or not, know that it made her who she is today. and because of that she treats you the way she does. she doesn't do it out of spite. she does it because that's what she was taught is right, or you taught her to be that way. now its up to you to choose if that's good or bad.
yes, women to have their own minds, and are in control of their actions. but to not have been affected by their relationships is a women who has not lived at all. know that much.
just a little series i wanna do one songs i feel that are relevant to this moment in time in my life.
I have discovered a website I am making my way through that focuses on the songs that are featured in TV commercials and such. Which I always find myself using soundhound when I hear a song that I might like. What Song Is In That Commercial is the site for you all. Anyways I came across this find.
The song featured is called "Open Up Your Star" by NavinR. I was trying to look up some info on them but I can't seem to find much. But I am going to make my way through their albums on band camp. I love the feel of it. They have 3 albums up on their. This one is a good track! Take a listen and purchase on bandcamp if you like what you hear. And I'm sure there will not be any complaints on the Kate Upton commercial haha.
I've fallen to the ever growing fandom of the "50 Shades" series. :) I love how the author incorporates different kinds of music into the series, so I complied the songs available on spottily and made the songs mentioned in the book into a playlist. Helps with the imagery while reading.
When I heard Tony Lucca's rendition of this song, I guess I missed the part where they say they were inspired by the Hugo version. Anyways, I love Tony's version, and I really liked his creative work on the show this season! But I wanted to give credit where credit was due, since I did like Hugo's version too. Enjoy!

Lots and lots of things going on lately. Coachella this weekend is the biggest excitement :) That's all I've been talking about. And probably will be talking about for awhile. But besides that great moment, school and work are pretty much the routine.
I am really excited about this post. I wanted to try out the new feature that spotify has :) This is great for bloggers, and I will most definitely be using it for this site.
I decided to go with my 2nd favorite Britney track showcase this new feature for a few reasons.
1. I Love Her
2. I watching something with the Ying Yang Twins and made me think of this song
3. Some guy at work was singing a Britney song today so I am now inspired. He called her a genius :) I dunno about that but she is gold.
I know there's been a lot of talk about her, but I stay a fan. I grew up listening to her, and I think it's a lot of fun. I had such a great time with my girlfriends going to see her last year in Vegas, so she will have a special spot. Enjoy!!!
A little bonus with my favorites playlist :)
"You abandoned me
Love don't live here anymore
Just a vancancy
Love don't live here anymore"
I always love good covers. I think William is an excellent vocalist. Friend sent me this song on spotify, and I am hooked. I love Zooey Deschanel but I can't get into her vocals and couldn't get into the cover She & Him did of this song on 500 Days of Summer. I think William does a much better approach.
The day has come where my current favorite song might take position #2 because a new one has come along that has captured my heart and ears. (yes I may be over dramaticizing just a bit). Regardless, let me introduce you all to my new favorite.
I know I am a little late in discovering this gem of a song. But I we have officially connected. I will hopefully be hearing this live next month which makes me even more psyched about the fact. I learned this track has a little connection to my late Heath Ledger, who was my favorite actor. So that made me fall in love even more. Just everything about this song is amazing. Thanks for showing this to me friend :) So take a listen and tell me what you think.
